I get email updates from Refinery29, Women’s Wear Daily, and Vogue regularly as it relates to the latest and greatest in fashion. When all of a sudden I come across Universal Standard…..
Some of my favorites such as, Gabifresh, The Curvy Fashionista, Beauticurve, Garnerstyle to name a few, are what I call “Plus Size Fashion Ambassadors”. Being a curvy girl myself, I grew up feeling unsatisfied, which is one reason why Anneseme was created! It has been an uphill battle going into major department stores to find all the gorgeous outfits that aren’t in my size and having to settle. Squeezing into an outfit not meant for me, or rummaging through the women’s section which was, lets face it….way too “mature” for my liking. But I made it work since the options were slim to none!
More recently it feels like the clouds have parted and a beam of light is shining down on the plus-size community. We are starting to see more designers other than Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart, and Dress Barn who cater to us. I’m so happy that we have come to a point were some in the fashion industry are excepting and embracing the curve.
Women come in many shapes and sizes, it’s about time “reality” sunk in that plus size ladies are also trendsetters, pushing the envelope and expressing what it means to be sexy and sophisticated.

While most popular clothing companies only go up to sizes 10-12, both Polina Veksler and Alexandra Waldman took pencil to paper and drew up Universal Standard. A fashion line for us plus-size ladies that has been neglected for so long.
With silhouettes that accentuate your assets, to cozy-chic fashion functional for a day to night transformation. This is certainly a win in my book!
So hold your curves to a higher standard…….try Universal Standard!
