THE 2023 BLACKSTAR FILM FESTIVAL IS BACK!
The return of the BlackStar Film Festival is around the corner, and the lineup is solid. Taking place August 2-6, with in-person screenings at the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center Cultural Campus, Suzanne Roberts Theatre, and the Lightbox Film Center in Philadelphia, as well as online. Let’s show up and support these phenomenal creatives.
Since 2012 The BlackStar Film Festival has consistently shared the works of creative Black, Brown, and Indigenous individuals from all walks of life across the globe. Giving us visual masterpieces, programs, and seminars year-round, a dope podcast – Many Lumens hosted by Chief Executive, and Artistic Officer Maori Karmael Holmes, SEEN – an annual magazine, and collaborating with local organizations and foundations like the Philadelphia Filmmaker Lab, Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, University of Pennsylvania Cinema and Media Studies and many more.
