I’ve been waiting for season two of Insecure for the past several months and the first episode surely was “Hella Great”! If you haven’t seen season one……. disclaimer……watch it! Because were about to get down to the nitty-gritty.

Season one, episode 8 left me “Broken As F****”. These episode titles give me so much life! But, it truly did. I wanted to curl up in the corner and cry after Lawrence, not only broke up with Issa and moved out, but ending the season with him knee-deep in the young lady from the employment office. I mean two wrongs don’t make it right! Right?

Season two episode 9 begins with Issa coming to grips with the fact that their relationship is over (or has she?). Trying to get over Lawrence by putting time and energy into her work, which seems to be gong just as uneasy and hitting the dating scene. They say that the best way to get over someone is to start seeing someone else. Who are these damn people anyway?

Easier said than done! I’ve been in a “situation” where I was in a relationship that lasted a few years and then decided that I needed to jump over the hurdle and put myself back on the market. I’d just like to say that I empathize with Issa. There is nothing worst than sitting across from a complete stranger trying to break them down in your head. Does he have good hygiene, kids, a job, goals, family values, etc…etc? Not to say that we all carry a little baggage from previous relationships.

Here is a prime example….this is the digital age. We would all love to say that we met a random stranger on the street and just hit it off, or a friend hooked us up. But with social media being at our finger tips, you can just swipe until your heart is content.

I met a young man on one of those dating sites, lets call him Larry. Well we text a few times and decided to move to the next level, “talking”. Now, I’m not one to move fast, but if the vibe is right then I like to let things play out naturally. We decided to meet up for a drink. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised! He looked just like his pictures. Thank you Jesus! The first date was a success. Then onto dinner…our discussion got a little more in-depth. Family, marriage, kids…..oh did I mention he had a 9 month old. Red flag! Needless to say we didn’t talk long. Dating can be so exhausting.

But the fact that Issa has to put on her big girl panties and hit the dating scene is “Hella Scary” and daunting. Still being in love with Lawrence isn’t making things any easier.

Lawd this season is going to be so good and I can’t wait until the next episode. So be sure to tune into Insecure Sundays at 10:30 pm est. on HBO
