With the sudden passing of Alex Trebek, long time host of the NBC TV game show Jeopardy, the hunt for a new host has begun.
Ironically, a friend and I were talking and I made a comment that I wished PBS would bring back the popular show Reading Rainbow.
Reading Rainbow was the show that shaped us all as children. I would rush home to watch the after-school specials and Reading Rainbow, singing along to the tv. “I …can… be anything…., take a look, it’s in a book, reading rainbow….”
LeVar Burton, is an amazing Actor, Author, Presenter, Producer, and in some cases a sitter. Showing us the importance of education and reading which occupied our time while mom prepared dinner.
Burton went on to star in the television miniseries based on Alex Haley’s 1976 novel Roots. For my Trekkies he played Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Since then, we have seen him on numerous shows, etc., but every time is a constant reminder of our childhood.
Well, apparently I’m not alone in thinking that LeVar Burton should make his debut back into syndicated TV as the new host of Jeopardy. We can listen to him talk all day and when it comes to looks Mr. Burton makes everyone feel comfortable. That is what we want and what we need, especially after the past four years! “Just saying”!
There is a petition to have him become the next host of the beloved show Jeopardy, with nearly 100,000 signatures and counting! I still think that a revamped Reading Rainbow would be a great idea for the younger generation. Maybe with a new female host! Children need something to look forward to every day, especially during these tough times as we suffer from the covid crisis. If they have to stay indoors, then let them watch something fun and educational.
