Leading Organizations in the Tourism and Hospitality Industries Discuss the Consequences of Mass Social Trauma, Stemming From Incidents Like Shootings, Protests, and Political Injustice That Can Cast a Profound Shadow on Any Business Event at a Free Webinar on November 15, 2023.
In an era marked by outrageous acts of violence in society today, being committed to creating safe events has never been more critical. The far-reaching consequences of mass social trauma, stemming from incidents like shootings, protests, and political injustice can cast a dark shadow on any event, from a business conference to a music concert. To properly prepare meeting professionals for these unexpected situations by bad actors, the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP) and PCMA have created an innovative partnership to educate their communities on the impact of social trauma at events. On November 15, 2023, the two organizations will present a free webinar titled, “Navigating Mass Social Trauma at Events.”
“Understanding the impacts of threats and how to navigate them is not only essential for resilience but also for sustaining attendee participation, meaningful connections, and healing within and between communities as well as for all of the stakeholders involved with the event,” states Jason Dunn, NCBMP Executive Director. “Our thought-provoking session, led by an expert panel, will provide insight into the psychological, emotional, and logistical aftermath that can impact successful event strategy, experiences, and safety measures.”
Depending on the location of your event as well as the identity or high profile of your organization, the threats and acts of violence are increasing and may be unavoidable. At the “Navigating Mass Social Trauma at Events,” webinar participants will learn how to-
- Gain insight into the challenges and triggers of mass social trauma.
- Become stronger, more empathetic, and better equipped managers on how to handle physical and psychological threats.
- Recognize the nuances to consider when determining the best logistical measures.
- Discuss contextual action and communication plans in peer group breakouts.
