FOOD IS A NECESSITY, NOT AN OPTION
Summer is a time for children to enjoy themselves, not worry about where their next meal will come from!
Many kids rely on free or low-cost meals throughout the school year, and summer break shouldn’t hinder that. Inflation is real, and keeping the lights on vs. providing healthy alternatives puts pressure on families to make sacrifices.
No Kid Hungry vows to help families who struggle with the basic necessity of supplying their children with nourishing meals. Patti LaBelle, Chef Lorena Garcia, Kelly Rolland, Alejandra Espinoza, Kwame Onwuachi, and Eugenio Derbez have joined the movement to spread awareness and promote the initiative to end child hunger.
“The summer meals program is a lifeline for so many families when school is out, but one of the biggest barriers is simply awareness. I’m thrilled to team up with No Kid Hungry once again and help reach even more families this year with bilingual resources and through WhatsApp, which is a way to reach immigrant and Latino families where they are.” -Lorena Garcia, chef, author, restaurateur, and TV personality.
With the assistance of Congress and programs nationwide, No Kid Hungry is implementing resources, funding, and convenient ways to get assistance. “Parents, grandparents, and caregivers can text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” to 304-304 or visit NoKidHungry.org/WhatsApp to find sites serving free meals in your neighborhood.”Â

Free summer meals are available to children 18 years of age and under now thru August 12, 2023.
