AHMAUD ARBERY
Friday May 8th marked the date Ahmaud Arbery would have turned 26 years old. His life was “senselessly” taken on February 23rd, 2020 while jogging in a Brunswick, Georgia neighborhood.
Retired DA Investigator Gregory McMichael and his son Travis McMichael have been arrested May 9th charged with aggregated assault and murder.
Ironically this only happened after a video of Ahmaud’s murder was leaked on social media the first week of April. The McMichael’s took it upon theirself to confront Ahmaud with guns in tow, chasing him down in thier pickup trucks, resulting in an altercation and subsequent death of Arbery. One shot is an accident three is murder!
According to a police report, Gregory McMichael said he thought Arbery “looked like” a suspect in a series of recent break-ins.
This case has been riddled with confusion, coverups, a lack of professionalism. The bottom line is, no one deserves to be hunted down and shot like a dog!
Should you want to support this injustice Color for Change has been a big advocate and circulating the following petition:
Sign the petition demanding District Attorney George Barnhill & District Attorney Jackie Johnson’s immediate removal from office.
A full investigation is being done on the police department for the mishandling of this case. We still have no idea if the police had the video since February and why nothing was done at the time.
You can also contribute to the Crownpac fundraising campaign to support Ahmaud’s family during the uphill battle that’s coming thier way.
“We are launching this fund to support Ahmaud’s family. They are fighting for justice for Ahmaud and all the other families that have been victimized under the same horrifying circumstances,” said the leaders of Crowdpac. “We are sending out this plea to our four million members to support the Arbery family. Crowdpac is waiving all of its fees to make sure 100% of the money our members donate goes directly to the family should they choose to accept it.
We continue to keep Ahmaud Arbery and his family in prayer.
