Christmas is days away, and we think you should spice things up in the kitchen.

Wah Gwan (“What’s Going On” / “What’s Good”) in patois is a labor of love for Chef Marcus Anthony, a first-generation American whose roots hail from Jamaica, who put his twist on the spice industry.

If you’ve never seen the movie “Like Water for Chocolate” (spoiler alert), it’s about a woman who cooks memorable dishes. Whoever has the pleasure of consuming her food also experiences those emotions while eating it. If she is sad, mad, or happy, that’s precisely how they feel while eating her cooking. It’s a great movie; you should check it out!

The effort that goes into preparing a meal is appreciated, and you can tell when someone put their heart and soul into it. Cooking is an art, and one of the essential tools used is spices. It can enhance the flavor, take you to a particular region of the world and yes, even get you emotional.

Like most of us, Chef Marcus Anthony got his start from his mother.

He experimented in the kitchen with all-purpose seasoning until he perfected the flavors after receiving some unique spices from his wife one Christmas. Scotch bonnet powder, smoked pimenton, and specific paprika.

No more a little bit of this or that, pure perfection after tweaking the taste paired with different proteins.

After launching in 2019, their sales have more than doubled, now the focus is getting Wah Gwan to retailers.

Being a foodie, flavor is significant, and sometimes you don’t know where to start. Well, let Wah Gwan guide you through the process by creating your favorite dishes with their All-Purpose Seasoning. Good on everything, doesn’t contain salt or MSG, use it as a dry rub, sautee, and if you like things hot, kick it up a notch with their hot version.

Looking for that last-minute Christmas gift for a cook in your family or want to wow friends for New Year’s with a bold and statement dinner experience, well try the Pro Suite. A set containing their signature Wah Gwan, G Salt, and Dry Brine.

Some of us are amateurs who don’t know a thing about cooking. Chef Marcus Anthony has a very detailed website offering recipes and more. You can also watch him on youtube, where he breaks things down even further.

We envision Wah Gwan in the retail grocery stores like Whole Foods, Wegmans, The Fresh Market, and most defiantly Target! Purchase your own HERE today.
