The 48th annual Odunde Festival kicked off Monday, June 5th, with daily events from I.AM.BUMI’s 25th-anniversary celebration at the Skylounge on 1500 Locust Street, Kekee and Me Yoga at Love Park, a Pop Up Odunde T-Shirt giveaway, African Fashion Capsule, and African Business Roundtable at Temple University.
Wrapping up Sunday, June 11th, the festival stretched over 15 blocks centered around 23rd and South Streets in Philadelphia, PA. Jam-packed with the smell of International Foods, funnel cake, and vendors every step of the way. The rhythmic sound of drums heard in the backdrop as people shuffled to the nearest booth to see what local, national, and international merchants had to offer.
Traveling as far as Africa with the purest Shea butter, handmade waste beads, Ankara, handbags, and more.
A family affair, as children with faces painted filled with excitement trying to keep up with their parents walking up and down the street, pointing and smiling at what to expect next. The streets of Philadelphia were transformed into a modern-day souk. Performances on every corner kept the crowds entertained and engaged.
