FYRE FESTIVAL
Fyre Festival. The name is cool, but what exactly was it supposed to be? Guess we’ll never know.
I’m not a big fan of festivals. There is something about being in a huge crowd, people bumping into you, spilling drinks, screaming and you fighting for space. I like more intimate settings that I can control when I come and go.
If you haven’t seen Fyre on Netflix I suggest you do. Hulu also has a version to compare called Fyre Fraud. Both worth checking out.
Let me say first and foremost…no offense to those who did, but if I have $12K to splurge on it wouldn’t be towards a festival. For that amount of money, I better be having dinner with the artist! Fyre Festival was the brainchild of hip-hop artist Ra Jule and young tech entrepreneur, Billy McFarland.
Scheduled to take place April 28–30 and May 5–7, 2017, on the Bahamian island of Exuma and sold out in 48 hours. Just check out this promo video:
Nice right! Well this is what they got.
Without giving too much of the documentary away, all I can say is “be careful”. No matter who the people are, please don’t just give anyone your money to be the first! “Slow and steady wins the race”. An event being done for the first time always has kinks. Being someone who has planned events, and knows the stress that comes with it, it’s a job for the patient and organized. When someone says they are planning an event for thousand of people within months, give them the side eye! Because an event of this magnitude would have at least taken a year to pull off.
Have you seen either documentary? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I saw both while in bed with the flu. I liked the Netflix one a lot better. I’m glad Billy is in jail bc that’s where he should be.
