Why did the Congressional Black Caucus think is was a good idea to give the Congressional Democrats Kente cloth stoles to wear at an event honoring George Floyd?
What does it have to do with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless others who have been brutalized and murdered by the hands of those who were appointed to protect and serve us?
Regular clothes would have been suitable! Instead this was a distraction.
Inquiring minds want to know if any of those who wore the traditional Ghanaian garment knew it’s symbolization and origin. “An Akan royal and sacred cloth worn in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings.”
The intention may have been good, but the delivery was disappointing. The Kente Cloth has been exploited by many and massed produced for years. Being part of the African culture that’s where it should stay or at the very least give Ghana some credit.
