Damea Morris, is seeking legal help after finding out that the doctors allegedly told her that her baby died after birth, but is still alive….and being raised by adoptive parents!

Damea says she unexpectedly gave birth to her baby girl, RaeLa Adams, at home with her baby’s father, 3 years ago on a toilet. They lived across the street from a school, so her baby’s father ran to get help before coming back with a lady who assisted Damea until paramedics arrived. The lady informed Damea that the baby wasn’t breathing.

When paramedics arrived and cut the umbilical cord, that was the first time Damea heard the baby cry. The paramedics carried both Damea and the crying baby out of the house and transported them to a St. Joseph’s hospital where she was told the baby died.

Demea was in shock and says she couldn’t see her baby like that. “We were going through a lot at the time.” It wasn’t until Demea had trouble retrieving the baby’s death certificate that she realized the shocking news! “I ended up finding out I have an adoption open with some lady,” she explained.

After searching the woman’s name on Facebook, Damea immediately recognized her child. “Omg she looks just like my other kids,” she said. The woman even detailed her adoption journey and says she was called (the same day Damea had her baby) and told that the maternity ward at the hospital was closing, and she was chosen to take a baby home.

The adoptive couple, Joanna and Jake Lentner, have now deleted all of their social media pages and the website detailing their journey. Nurses from the now closed maternity ward even helped Mea organize a funeral for her baby.

Morris has set up a GoFundMe, ostensibly for legal fees to get to the bottom of what happened to her daughter. In two days, it has raised $3,050 of its $10,000 goal.
