A Pregnant Woman Was Shot, Now Charged For Her Fetus’s Death
If you haven’t heard about this let me give you the Anneseme accelerated version. In December of 2018 two women get into an altercation outside of an Alabama Dollar General store. One Ms. Marshae Jones, 27 years old is five (5) months pregnant and ends up shot “multiple times” in the stomach by the other Ms. Ebony Jemison, 23 years old who is not.
Marshae Jones survived her injuries but sadly the baby did not. Now you may ask, what could these women possibly be fighting over. A man! Now to add insult to injury the state of Alabama has pressed charges of Manslaughter on the was-to-be mother Ms. Marshae Jones for initiating the fight.
“The investigation showed that the only true victim in this was the unborn baby,’’ Pleasant Grove Police Lt. Danny Reid noted at the time of the shooting. “It was the mother of the child who initiated and continued the fight which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby.”
Let me take a sip of my wine while I dig into these shenanigans.
The shooter, Ebony Jemison was acquitted on charges of manslaughter by a grand jury. So she walked! Yet, in turn, they want to punish the victim because she allegedly acted in a manner that caused her to be shot and lose the baby!
Are you keeping up with this crap!
Now let’s say that she did initiate the altercation. From what I have been told, women while pregnant are very emotional and we have to remember, that these are young ladies under the age of 30. When I was in my 20’s I didn’t always make wise decisions or always think rationally. There are a number of factors that played a part. The fact of the matter is twenty-three-year-old Ebony Jemison shot her “multiple times” in her stomach and the baby died.
Not only does Alabama want to choose for women in the recently passed abortion law, but they are also using this tragedy to further add fuel to the fire.
“The state of Alabama has proven yet again that the moment a person becomes pregnant their sole responsibility is to produce a live, healthy baby and that it considers any action a pregnant person takes that might impede in that live birth to be a criminal act,’’ Amanda Reyes, executive director of The Yellowhammer Fund, a member of the National Network of Abortion Funds, said in a statement cited by AL.com.
Jones was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail where she is held on a $50,000 bond.
So tell me what do you think. Should she go to jail for “getting herself shot and losing the baby?”

This is awful!!! The woman who shot her, shot her directly in the stomach, which to me sounds like she was aiming at the baby, so why is she not convicted of murder, or held responsible for her horrendous actions. When you shoot someone, you have intentions to kill. She killed the baby, not the mother who is already suffering after the loss of her unborn child in such a horrible way. Personally I think the state of Alabama should be sued and under investigation for the way they are implementing the law. Considering Alabama’s history of racism and injustice, this doesn’t surprise that they would do something this inconceivable, but what surprises me is that the world around us is allowing them to do this. Is there no one who can fight this state for this ridiculousness??? Hopefully the jury will be sensible, and not cause this woman anymore unbearable pain.
I completely agree! I wanted to post this because I saw a posting about it on my Facebook. A “woman” responded that the mother should have “predicted” something like this would happen and she agrees with the state. I tried not to get in my feelings, but had to respond to such an insensitive comment. She already has to live with the fact that she lost her baby, now you want to prolong her suffering and make her feel like she deserved this. I want to know where are all the groups rallying to help this young lady? Instead a pro-choice organization is helping, which is such a political move. This just angers me and shows the state of disfunction we are in!
