Move over Mahogany Greeting Cards; there’s a new girl in town! “You Go Girl” Melanin Cards made its debut Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022, and we are excited! We have been there, standing in the card section, looking for that perfect card for the occasion that conveys your sentiment and is visually appealing. Where are the cards for us? An aisle filled with cards, we’ve been minimized to a handful depicting people that look like us and are relevant.
Black female entrepreneur, FAMU Alumni, accomplished author, and owner of Opportune Independent Publishing Company, Shanley Simpson, saw a void in the greeting card space and took action. “You Go Girl” Melanin Cards is a collection of greeting cards dedicated to women and girls of color.
Simpson has developed an array of beautifully illustrated greeting cards in print and digital for my tech-savvy and eco-friendly girls. She offers custom cards, bundles, candles, and more.
