The Philadelphia Department of Sanitation’s mechanical street cleaning program will be in full effect starting April 1st, 2026 through November 1st, 2026. In part of the city’s initiative to clean up the streets and sidewalks, prevent trash, reduce littering, and provide a better way of life in our community. The pilot program has selected 14 neighborhoods and will begin the week of April 13th in the following areas:

  • Frankford
  • Germantown
  • Kensington
  • Logan
  • Nicetown
  • North Central Philadelphia
  • Pascall
  • Point Breeze
  • Port Richmond
  • South Philadelphia
  • Southwest
  • Strawberry Mansion
  • West Fairhill
  • West Philadelphia

Street sweeping will take place Monday through Thursday, except for holidays and city-observed holidays, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Cleaning will resume the following week after a noted holiday. Residents are urged to follow the posted “no parking” signs. Vehicles will be warned the first week, then fined by authorized Philadelphia ticketing agencies thereafter.

Cleanings will be staggered on alternate days to avoid inconveniencing residents and to allow alternative parking between the hours of 9:00 am – 11:00 am, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
