WE GETTIN’ GROWN

As I was listening to one of my favorite podcast GETTIN’ GROWN  (if you haven’t downloaded what are you waiting on)One particular episode made me think about the process that we go through in life to get to where we want to be in life and in our relationships.

No matter how bad you want to stay young the reality is that the years pass by fast and one moment your 30 and in the blink of an eye 40 is staring you in the face. Just STOP!

There’s a bit of discomfort in feeling you are not where you want to be by a certain age. “This wasn’t apart of the plan”. Not married, no kids, and still dreaming about that dream job. Guess what. You are exactly where you need to be! There is progress in the process!

Life is meant to be lived and one thing that I have come to terms with is, my life isn’t ordinary. Don’t look down on me because I’m not married yet. Maybe it’s because I choose not to settle. No children..no problem. I love kids but have the freedom to get up and go whenever I choose. I’ll call you when I get back from vacation and my dream job, well I’m working on that! So thank you for reading this and supporting a sista!

I am sharing this to say there is progress in the process. Don’t feel bad about where you are and what you don’t have because God has given you exactly what you need at this time. Don’t rush the process, trust it! Maybe there are some things you need to learn more about yourself before meeting your husband or wife. Do you lack patience? Do you manage your money well? These are just a few things to think about before feeling bad about where you are.

There is no such thing as the “perfect life”.  Looks are deceiving and as much as you adore someone else’s life from the outside, the struggle is real and it doesn’t take sides. Embrace the life you live and work towards the one you want.

Don’t forget to check out Gettin Grown if you want to hear from two brown beauties on self-care, working for that money and the man, and learning how to adult and figure out life as 30-somethings.
