BLACK PANTHERÂ
It’s Mad about Monday and while we continue to marvel over Marvel Comics “Black Panther”, let’s put the spotlight on Ruth E. Carter for giving us the inspiration to flaunt our artistic side by screaming, “Wakanda Forever”.Â
Ms. Carter isn’t new to the game! She has been blessing our screens since the late 80’s with films like Schools Daze, Mo’ Better Blues, Jungle Fever, The Five Heartbeats, Malcolm X, Amistad, Sparkle, etc.Â
This Hampton University Graduate has used her Bachelor of Arts Degree to take us to another dimension in Black Panther. Not only do the actors make the movie, but also the costumes.Â
Ms. Carter traveled to South Africa to get her inspiration for the film putting an Afro-futuristic twist on it. The vibrant colors, textures, and eye-catching accessories grab your attention and make you want to stand up and cross your hands in an X! She tells her own story through fashion and for that we are greatly appreciative.Â
