Kidi and Tulsi Kumar

Afrobeats Star, Kidi unites with Tulsi Kumar for Viral Remix

In a world that is often divided by culture, race, and borders,  Ghanian superstar, Kidi is on a journey to bring people together through music. Kidi and popular Indian singer and actress Tulsi Kumar are changing narratives and perspectives.

Kidi took the world and internet by storm last year with his monstrous hit, “Touch It.” He was already an established highlife star in Africa before Touch it. He had won significant awards and commanded audiences. During the pandemic in 2020, Kidi linked up with legendary American producer and music executive Jack Knight. The two formed a partnership under Knight’s “Made in East NY imprint.

“Touch It” was their first single. From that moment, everything changed. Kidi’s hit crossed every geographical boundary. The Afrobeats song became a global feel-good anthem all over the world. “Touch It” went viral around the world, landing on multiple charts. The song went platinum in India and deeply resonated with the audience there. Unofficial Indian versions of the song popped up all over Tik Tok.

Knight identified how explosive Touch It was in India. When popular Indian-based music company T-Series contacted Knight’s label for a collaboration between Tulsi and Kidi, Knight immediately said yes. Together the labels created an Indian and Afro-infusion classic.

“It has been a long but exciting journey to get this idea to come to light, but now that it’s finally done and the video is finished, we are super excited,” said Knight

“Never before has there been such a fusion of varied cultures – in a time when the world seems divided, we want to remind everyone that we are more alike than we are different. I am so excited about this collab, and I hope it breaks cultural barriers!” shared Kidi.

Excited about her first International collaboration, Kumar said, “Shut Up has been a joy-ride to work on! From reaching out to KiDi with the idea to shooting the entire video, it feels like a dream! KiDi and I come from completely different cultures, and music is the only thread that connects us,” said Kumar.

“Shut Up co-composer, Tanishk Bagchi says, This song is a testament that music is a universal language.”

The music video for ‘Shut Up’ is available on the  T-Series YouTube Channel.  It has surpassed 7 million views in one day.
